Copycat Starbucks chai tea latte with mango cream

servingsThis is a pretty tasty attempt at recreating the yummy Starbucks springtime iced chai tea latte with mango cold foam I enjoyed for the first time yesterday. I tried it on a whim and loved the mango flavor with the nutmeggy spicy chai flavor – a perfect complement.
I didn’t want a cold one this morning, so I just left mine hot and topped with homemade whipped cream (that I added thawed mango chunks to and let the flavors mingle, refrigerated overnight).
It was great and I have a ton of whipped cream to use thruout the week whenever I want another one – supereasy…If I could find some mango syrup, that’d really put it close to the Starbucks one – as it is, this was a worthy substitute!
I made this chai tea latte using the Keurig K-cup chai tea latte pods.
Ingredients
Keurig K-cup Chai Tea Latte pods
sm container of whipping cream – plan to make your whipped cream the night before if you are using frozen or fresh mango chunks – so you can refrigerate the cream and the mango flavor has a chance to mingle with the finished cream.
1/2 c sugar
1 sm bag frozen mango chunks, thawed – could also cut up a fresh mango or use a couple of little “lunchbox” containers of diced mango with syrup. Use the syrup as well.
Directions
- The night before you want your latte, prepare the mango cream by adding your whipping cream and sugar to a mixing bowl. Use a hand mixer to blend on med/high speed for a few minutes, til your cream is whipped.
- If using frozen mango chunks (or fresh), add them to the whipped cream and refrigerate overnight for best flavor.
- If using lunchbox container of diced mango, add to finished whipped cream and blend with spoon til the fruit and syrup is combined well.
- If you wish to get rid of any mango chunks in the cream, spoon them out with a slotted spoon.
- Make your chai tea latte using the Keurig K-cup pod, If you want to make another cup or two and pour the latte into ice trays and freeze, that will give you frozen latte-cubes for an iced coffee version of this.
Then top with the mango cream.
